goCityKids is a website that provides city pages for approximately 50 of the largest US cities. The site is used to build a community based atmosphere for parents and their children in these cities. Parents can give peer reviews of events, attractions, and educational activities for other parents looking for something fun and interesting for their kids.
goCityKids is a Java application using the Spring MVC web framework and Hibernate to connect to a MySQL database. The page layout was done using JSPX, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, Yahoo User Interface (YUI), jquery, custom Java tag libraries (TAGX), etc.
Due to the peer nature of this site, it was made to be very Web 2.0 which allows easy usability for fairly complex entry’s and information sharing.
This was a neat project that was very fun to work on. We are pleased that it went well, and are happy to have worked with the parents connect team.
