Contraption Max
Contraption Max is an action/puzzle game that theREDspace decided to make In-house from concept to completion. The purpose of the game is for Max to rescue his girlfriend Maxine from the evil Doctor Nod. You get closer to your goal by progressing through levels that force you to arrange machines on a factory floor with a large claw to get the spare parts flowing to the next room. This will allow you to build the tools that will help get you to the next floors, ultimately to get to Maxine. If this wasn’t enough, there are obstacles, like enemy robot workers, that will get in your way throughout the game and force you to adapt and always think ahead.
We built the game itself entirely in Adobe Flash. Virtually every aspect of Contraption Max was created in house; this includes art, animations, videos, testing, the concept and the storyline. Overall Contraption Max was a good experience for theREDspace. It gave us a good grasp of what it will be like to create and manage large scale in-house games in the future. Through Contraption Max we not only produced a solid, fun, marketable game; we also gained expertise going forward for future games, and larger deployments.
